The Center for Fisheries Studies (CEPES) is a scientific institution dedicated to the study of marine resources and ecosystems in the southern zone of Chile.
Fundado en 2002 mediante un convenio entre FIPES y la Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), y constituido en sociedad anónima en el 2007, hoy opera como una entidad experta en la producción de conocimiento científico para el manejo sustentable de pesquerías.

Since its creation, CEPES has developed analyses, technical studies and research projects —including various types of fisheries monitoring and assessments— in collaboration with authorities such as the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca), as well as with related associations and industries, providing data and information that improve the understanding of fisheries, their dynamics, and the public policies required for their proper exploitation and management.
