ABOUT US

The Center for Fisheries Studies (CEPES) is a scientific institution dedicated to the study of marine resources and ecosystems in the southern zone of Chile.

Founded in 2002 through an agreement between FIPES and Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), and incorporated as a corporation in 2007, it now operates as an expert body producing scientific knowledge for the sustainable management of fisheries.

We provide technical analysis and evidence-based advice to support decision-making by industry companies and the national fisheries authority.

Our experience

Since its creation, CEPES has developed analyses, technical studies and research projects —including various types of fisheries monitoring and assessments— in collaboration with authorities such as the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca), as well as with related associations and industries, providing data and information that improve the understanding of fisheries, their dynamics, and the public policies required for their proper exploitation and management.
